in-depth reviews of every foundation I have tried

As a person with pretty terrible skin, foundation is the most important part of my makeup routine!! I was thinking about how many foundations are out there, how many I’ve tried and the qualities of each one that I loved and hated and I wanted to tell someone. about it! So here is a pretty in-depth review of every foundation I have ever tried, starting with the foundation I used when I first started wearing makeup in 7th grade and down to my current favorite :)

CoverGirl Clean Foundation. One of the first foundations I ever tried. I can smell it just from looking at the picture and it takes me back to junior high, thinking I looked bomb when I wore this. I didn’t set it with a powder or anything, because 2008. Based on pictures of myself from that time, it looks pretty patchy. However, to be fair, I applied it with my bare fingers (like a true savage). Maybe sometime throughout this quarantine, I will get bored enough to try it again.

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse. I love a good mousse, but this is not it. Anything of this texture will be very difficult to blend, and I found that various shades made me look orange.

L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation. Definitely the first foundation I ever tried that was even mildly decent. At a drug store price range, this foundation is probably the best you can get. It is truly matte, to the point where it may not be optimal for dry skin, but it blends well and it really does stay put all day.

ItCosmetics CC+ Cream. My first love affair with foundation starts here. I have been using this product off and on for about 4 years and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. It is truly full coverage and color correcting, and it smells like Fruit Loops. I will say it is difficult to set and I do find it slipping off my oily chin throughout the day. It’s not severe enough for me to stop using it though, I’m definitely going to restock soon. I am planning to try out the Oil-Free version next and I will report back on how it is :) On sale at Macy's right now when you use code FORYOU at checkout!!

Estee Lauder Double Wear Liquid Foundation. I tried this one back when I first graduated college, and I know it is a popular one among many influencers and my friends! It is not for you if you have dry skin because it is SO matte. I love matte skin but that is something to be aware of with this foundation if you’re going for a more dewy look. I have to say that when I was using this product I was setting it with a powder, and I recently found out that it’s not meant to be set with a powder because it will crack since it is already so dry. I really want to give it another try without setting it to see how I like it using it correctly! On sale at Macy's right now when you use code FORYOU at checkout!!

Lancome Teint Idole Foundation. Any time I wear this foundation I get compliments on my skin! It is a very liquid consistency which I don’t love (I prefer a thicker, more creamy foundation) but it looks so good that I’ll get over it ;) It feels more high end than the other products I have mentioned so far and you really feel luxurious when you put it on. It is very buildable so you can use one pump if you want a “your skin but better” look or one pump if you are like me and always going for full-coverage. Would highly recommend! On sale at Macy's right now when you use code FORYOU at checkout!!

NARS Radiant Foundation. Another high quality, buildable foundation. I love the consistency of it, which is very creamy. To be honest the shade I purchased is too light for me so I think I would have a more raving review of it if I had purchased the correct shade. It is similar to Lancome’s Teint Idole in both price and component, as well as coverage. One pump for “your skin but better” and two pumps for Barbie-Skin. Would definitely recommend this one :) On sale at Macy's right now when you use code FORYOU at checkout!!

Saving the best for last of course… Too Faced Born This Way Foundation. OMG this one was a game-changer for me. I really have nothing negative to say about it!! I heard of this one through Jaclyn Hill and I decided to give it a try but I really wasn’t optimistic about it. But IT IS AMAZING. One pump is much larger than the amount of one pump from the other foundations I discussed above, and it’s the perfect amount for a full-coverage but not over-the-top look. You could wear it to work and tone it down, for a night out, or a full-glam look. I’m in love with it. There are so many foundations out there that I want to try but I’m not sure any will measure up to this one!! Plus the amount you get for the price is an amazing value. If you could only pick one product from this entire list, TRY THIS ONE! On sale at Macy's right now when you use code FORYOU at checkout!!
