Quarantine Skincare Routine

I’ve had to do a little bit of a switch up in my skincare routine since quarantine started, and when I first started running low on certain products I was definitely nervous about how my skin would react! My skin and my skincare routine have come a long way in the last 2 years and I was afraid that I might lose all progress I had made. I’ve been self-quarantining for just over 50 days I believe, and I have only worn makeup 2 of those days so I’m sure that is a huge part of why my skin is doing so well. Everyone has such different skin that I’m not necessarily recommending my specific routine, but I might as well share the products that work for me and maybe they will work for you too! :)

If I wear makeup, I use the Clinique Take the Day Off Oil to remove my makeup before I get in the shower. Once I’m in the shower I also use the Clinique Take the Day Off Balm to get my eye makeup off. It works best on my eyes because it is so gentle!

Also if I wore makeup, I double cleanse. I use the Neutragena Foaming Gentle Cleanser. It’s like $6 at Target and so good!!

Every day, twice a day (morning and night), I use the Lancome Mousse Radiance cleanser. I love a foaming cleanser, but if that’s not up your alley (I know a lot of people hate that, lol!) they also have a normal gel cleanser version. I have used both and they really both make my skin feel the same way after using. It makes my skin feel so soft and clean without feeling stripped. I believe it is good for all skin types too, and one bottle lasts about 6 months!

Again, if I wore makeup I then go in with a micellar water. I think pretty much all micellar water is the same but I love the blue bottle of the Garnier one. If I didn’t wear makeup that day I go right in with my toner (using a cotton pad). I use this Lancome toner. I put it all over my face, but I really focus in on my chin because that’s where my acne gets the worst. I go through phases where I have some millia on my chin (tiny little bumps that aren’t active acne, usually hormonal) and this toner really helped me out with that!! (Shoutout to my girl Lyndsay for always hooking me up with the skincare products I need!)

Then I use the Tula Brightening and Cooling Stick under my eyes (I do this in the morning and at night!).

I use these tiny razors to shave the baby hair off my face (not every night but whenever I notice it’s getting out of control).

Then I use one of my all time favorite products - Lancome Genifique Serum!! I can’t even explain how this product makes your skin feel other than SO DANG GOOD!! I swear by this one. I can see myself still using this when I am 75 years old!

Normally I would put on a moisturizer at this point, but I ran out of my moisturizer early on in the quarantine!! I ordered a replacement but for some reason it was marked “Undeliverable” and I never tried to re-order it. I have travel size products from gift with purchase events so I have been going back and forth using those every couple of days when my skin starts to feel dry. :)

So, then I use my jade roller. I’m not super sure that it actually helps my skin but it certainly provides an experience and makes me feel like I’m in a spa :) I have pretty terrible allergies year-round, but I use the jade roller (small end) a lot around my nose and under my eyes and maybe I’m crazy but I feel like it really helps with my sinuses! If it’s a placebo effect, I’ll take it for a jade roller I bought for $12, lol!

Once a week, I use the Lancome Rose Sugar Scrub. I don’t know much about skincare, but I know not to over-exfoliate!!! This is another product that really helps keep my millia at bay. Don’t use it more than once a week!! I use Thursday as my “mask day” - so every Thursday I use this scrub while I’m in the shower, then I wash my face with the foaming cleanser, then I use toner, and then I finish off my routine that day with some kind of face mask. There’s not a specific one that I use each week, but here are a few of my favorite ones:
-TonyMoly Face Masks (the avocado one is my favorite!)

As I was typing this out I realized the order of things got a little confusing. I’m going to break it down to be a little more simplified!

Morning, no matter what: Wash face w/ Mousse Radiance, Micellar Water on my chin, Lancome toner, brightening balm, a moisturizer or sunscreen (I have been using this Lancome sunscreen lately and it is good! I have never really used a sunscreen before but this one was a good place to start. I will probably try Tula next :))

Night if I’m wearing makeup: makeup remover oil, makeup removing balm, Neutragena cleanser, Lancome cleanser, micellar water, toner, brightening balm, Genefique serum, jade roller, moisturizer

Night if I’m not wearing makeup: Lancome cleanser, Lancome toner, brightening balm, Genefique Serum, jade roller, moisturizer

Thursday Routine: remove makeup, Lancome Sugar Scrub or Clinique City Block Charcoal Mask (not both), Lancome cleanser, Lancome toner, face mask

When the pandemic is over and life can go back to normal again, I’m planning on going to an esthetician because I want to start really investing in my skincare and taking care of my skin. So I’m sure this routine will be changing soon-ish, but I’ll definitely post an update on what works for me and what doesn’t as I experiment with new products! What are your “game changer” skincare products? Let me know in the comments so I can add them to my Master List of hair and beauty products I want to try :)
